"Minimum Five" was a publication project focused on exploring the complete editorial production process from concept and layout to printing and binding. Together with Amber Watts, I developed ZEITGEIST, a 60-page magazine featuring ten emerging artists and their work across photography, fashion, tattoo art, and music.
The concept was to capture a contemporary zeitgeist through the perspectives of young creatives. Each artist was presented in an individual chapter combining large-scale imagery, project introductions, and interviews. The editorial system was built around a modular InDesign grid, with a changing colour strip marking each chapter and creating a visual rhythm throughout the publication.
Inspired by the proportions of a Carhartt magazine, we chose a custom 270 × 210 mm format and focused on full-page and double-page-spread imagery. While the magazine pages were produced using laser printing, the cover was screen-printed in three colours to create a distinct tactile element. We developed the screen-printing templates ourselves and carefully aligned the layers during production.
The project involved the complete physical production of the publication, including printing, gluing, trimming, screen printing, and binding. Despite technical challenges during printing, the final result was a tactile editorial object that combines a structured visual system with experimental printing techniques.
